Position Overview:
We are seeking a strategic and compassionate VP of People and Culture to join the leadership team and champion The Biotech company’s commitment to fostering an inclusive, innovative, and high-performance workplace. This role will play a critical part in shaping the company’s culture, driving organizational development, and implementing people strategies that align with our mission to transform the lives of patients with rare diseases. The VP of People and Culture will report directly to the CEO and work closely with senior leaders to cultivate a thriving environment that attracts, develops, and retains top talent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive people strategy that supports The Biotech company’s mission, vision, and business objectives. Act as a strategic advisor to the executive team on all matters related to human capital and organizational culture.
- Culture Development: Champion and nurture a culture of inclusion, innovation, collaboration, and excellence that aligns with The Biotech company’s core values. Lead initiatives to enhance employee engagement, foster a sense of belonging, and drive a high-performance environment.
- Talent Acquisition and Retention: Oversee the design and implementation of a talent acquisition strategy to attract diverse and high-caliber talent. Partner with department heads to ensure effective workforce planning and succession planning.
- Employee Development: Create and implement robust learning and development programs that support continuous growth and career development. Ensure leadership development programs are in place to prepare future leaders for The Biotech company’s continued growth.
- HR Operations and Compliance: Oversee all HR operations, including compensation and benefits, performance management, employee relations, and compliance with local and international labor laws. Ensure HR policies and procedures are consistent, equitable, and aligned with the company’s values and strategic goals.
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI): Develop and drive a DEI strategy that ensures all employees feel valued, respected, and heard. Implement initiatives that promote diverse hiring, inclusive workplace practices, and equitable growth opportunities.
- Change Management: Lead organizational change initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions, organizational restructuring, and scaling efforts. Guide the company through transformational periods while maintaining morale and a positive workplace culture.
- Employee Experience: Continuously assess and improve the employee experience, from onboarding to offboarding. Utilize employee feedback to implement meaningful changes and improvements to our workplace practices and policies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in HR leadership roles, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership position.
- Proven experience in developing and executing people strategies in high-growth or scaling companies, ideally within the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or healthcare sectors.
- Strong understanding of HR best practices and employment law, both local and international.
- Demonstrated experience in building and nurturing a high-performance, inclusive, and engaging culture.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
- Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
