Foodtech, Production, Fermentation
Copenhagen
We are supporting an up-and-coming Danish Foodtech company who are expanding their team with a Head of Production. If working with fermentation is your strong suit, then this might be the right step in your career. Especially if you are looking to take on more managerial responsibilities.
More specifically you would be working with a company that upcycles surplus food from the regular food industry and turns it useful ingredients and flavor concentrates. Essentially making it both 100% natural and without any additives whilst reducing food waste, which is just right on time with what the market demands nowadays.
They already have clients in Denmark and abroad with a continuing increase in demand. This means that one of the major plans in the near future is to almost triple the current production capabilities. In essence, scaling up from pilot scale to commercial.
This will presents a number of challenges including making sure that everything is quality assured and meets the required industry standards and client expectations. In particular there is a focus on meeting the FSSC 22000 standards and improving GMP compliance across the board. You will be involved both in terms of making a gap analysis and implementing changes over time.
Your main tasks will include both the daily production of ingredients as well as implementing new tools and processes to meet quality requirements as they scale. Given that this is still a start-up you will very much be hands-on whilst also leading a smaller team with a couple of people reporting to you.
The size also makes this position an ideal stepping stone into a formal manager position which often is not afforded in larger originations. Or alternatively you might be seeking a place where you can have a bigger impact and with less bureaucracy.
Requirements
- M.Sc. or Ph.D. within Life Sciences, Biochemistry or related to Bioprocessing (fermentation). Must have good fermentation experience overall.
- A couple of years of industrial experience within a regulated industry, such as food, beverage, life sciences etc.
- Good practical understanding of FSSC 22000 is very meriting. There is support from a QA on-site but you will be a key player in analyzing gaps and implementing changes.
- GMP experience across the board is useful, but in particular related to food production.
- Previous leadership experience would be meriting but does not necessarily have to come from the role as Production Manager or similar. Although once again, it wouldn’t hurt either.
- Fluency in English. Danish is a small advantage but the company language is English and some of your colleagues are international.
If this sounds of interest then you either apply here directly or reach out to Anders Sandberg at Black Swans Exist who is the responsible recruiter for this position. He can be found on LinkedIn and the first step would be a confidential conversation to determine a deeper interest in the position.
