Position Overview:

We’re seeking an experienced and dynamic Chief Development Officer (CDO) to join a well-funded Danish Scale-up in the medical device and pharmaceutical industry. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in driving the company’s development strategy, with a particular focus on advancing and completing a Phase III study within cardiovascular diseases. The CDO will lead cross-functional teams, ensure regulatory compliance, and spearhead innovation, guiding our pipeline from clinical development through to market success.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive development strategy for the cardiovascular portfolio, focusing on achieving milestones for a Phase III study. Lead strategic planning, investment decisions, and partnership opportunities to enhance development objectives.
  • Clinical Development Oversight: Oversee the design, execution, and analysis of clinical trials, ensuring they meet scientific, regulatory, and quality standards. Drive the progress of the Phase III study, addressing any challenges and ensuring timely completion and success.
  • Regulatory Affairs Management: Collaborate with regulatory affairs to ensure that all development activities comply with US regulatory requirements. Lead interactions with FDA in relation to the completion of 510K and NDA applications to facilitate product approvals.
  • Cross-functional Team Leadership: Lead and mentor cross-functional and global teams, including clinical operations, medical affairs, regulatory affairs, and project management, to ensure cohesive and effective development efforts.
  • Innovation and Pipeline Expansion: Identify and evaluate new product opportunities and technologies within the cardiovascular domain. Work closely with the research and development teams to expand and prioritize the product pipeline.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, including investors, partners, and regulatory bodies. Present development updates, strategic insights, and risk assessments to the executive team and board of directors.
  • Budget and Resource Management: Develop and manage the development budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to achieve project milestones and strategic objectives.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Advanced degree (MD, PhD, or equivalent) in life sciences or medical discipline.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in pharmaceutical or medical device clinical development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing Phase III studies.
  • Proven track record of successful leadership in clinical development, preferably within the cardiovascular disease area.
  • Extensive knowledge of global regulatory requirements and experience interacting with regulatory agencies.
  • Strong strategic thinking, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and negotiation skills.
